If you are a Chianti lover, you will know that each bottle is precious because it contains within it the work of passionate winemakers and the magic of a unique territory. For this reason, when you buy bottles of wine for your home, it is essential to store them properly, so that they can express their full potential to the fullest.

Here are some practical tips for correctly storing wine in your home.

Temperature.

For Chianti, a temperature between 12°C and 16°C is ideal. If the wine is stored at higher temperatures, there is a risk of altering its flavor and structure. Also avoid sudden changes in temperature, which can damage the product. If you do not have a cellar, you can consider using a refrigerated wine cellar.

Lighting.

Light, especially direct sunlight, is the enemy of wine. UV rays can damage the molecules of the wine, changing its flavor. Store the bottles in a dark place or use opaque boxes to protect them from light. If you have a cellar that is exposed to light, make sure it is shielded.

Bottle location.

The way you store your bottles is important. If your wine has a cork, store the bottles horizontally. This will keep the product in contact with the cork, keeping it moist and preventing it from drying out. If, on the other hand, your bottles have a screw cap, they can be stored upright.

Stability and vibrations.

Vibrations can interfere with the aging process of wine. Avoid storing bottles in places subject to strong shaking, such as near washing machines or refrigerators. A quiet, stable cellar is ideal.

Storage time.

Finally, it is important to know that not all wines are designed to age. Chianti, for example, can be consumed young or aged, depending on the type. Find out what type of Chianti you have and when is the best time to drink it: some wines can improve with age, while others are designed to be enjoyed fresh and fruity.

Storing wine correctly not only preserves its flavor, but makes the tasting experience even more satisfying. Every sip will lead you to discover something more about the beauty and tradition of our beloved territory.

Cheers to everyone!
